Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu

Your adventure begins as you land at Paro International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by the stunning vistas of the Paro Valley. After clearing customs, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, you’ll catch glimpses of traditional Bhutanese architecture and lush landscapes. Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into your hotel and take some time to relax. In the evening, visit the Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress and monastery that houses the throne room and offices of the King of Bhutan. End your day with a stroll through the local markets, where you can shop for handicrafts and souvenirs, followed by a traditional Bhutanese dinner.

Day 2: Thimphu City Tour

Start your day with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King of Bhutan. This site is a hub of spiritual activity, with locals circumambulating the stupa and offering prayers. Next, head to the Buddha Dordenma statue, an awe-inspiring 51-meter-tall statue of Buddha that overlooks the Thimphu Valley. Continue your exploration with a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum, which offers a glimpse into the traditional Bhutanese way of life, and the National Textile Museum, where you can learn about Bhutan’s rich textile heritage. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk around the city and soak in the serene atmosphere.

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha

After breakfast, embark on a picturesque drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The journey takes you through the Dochula Pass, where you’ll stop to admire the panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas and the 108 memorial chortens. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. This architectural marvel is known for its intricate woodwork and beautiful murals. Later, visit the Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility, which is dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, a revered saint known for his unconventional teachings.

Day 4: Punakha to Paro

Today, you’ll return to Paro, a town known for its historic sites and natural beauty. Begin your exploration with a visit to the Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery that offers spectacular views of the Paro Valley. Next, head to the Ta Dzong, which houses the National Museum of Bhutan. The museum’s exhibits include ancient artifacts, religious thangkas, and traditional weapons. In the afternoon, take a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Paro town, where you can visit local shops and cafes. In the evening, relax at your hotel and prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 5: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

One of the highlights of your trip awaits today as you embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, commonly known as Tiger’s Nest. Perched on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site is one of Bhutan’s most revered monasteries. The hike is challenging but rewarding, offering breathtaking views and a sense of tranquility. Upon reaching the monastery, take time to explore the temples and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. After descending, return to Paro for a relaxing evening and a well-deserved rest.

Day 6: Departure from Paro

On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before transferring to Paro International Airport for your departure. As you bid farewell to Bhutan, take with you the memories of its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
