Itinerary

Morning: Arrive in Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim. Check into your hotel or homestay and take some time to rest after your journey. Afternoon:
Explore the historic Dubdi Monastery, the oldest monastery in Sikkim, nestled amidst lush forests. Take a short hike to the monastery and enjoy the serene ambiance.Evening : Stroll around Yuksom village, interact with the locals, and visit the Coronation Throne of Norbugang, where the first king of Sikkim was crowned in 1642. Dinner: Enjoy a traditional Sikkimese meal at a local eatery. Overnight: Stay in Yuksom.

Morning: Start your trek from Yuksom to Tshoka (approximately 6-7 hours). The trail passes through dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque villages.

Afternoon: Arrive in Tshoka, a small village inhabited by the Bhutia community. Rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Evening: Explore the village and visit the local monastery. Enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains.Dinner:
Have a warm meal at your campsite or guesthouse.Overnight: Stay in Tshoka.

Morning: Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri (approximately 4-5 hours). The trail ascends through rhododendron forests and offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga range. Afternoon: Arrive in Dzongri and set up camp. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area and soaking in the panoramic views of the Himalayas. Evening: Witness a mesmerizing sunset over the snow-capped peaks.Dinner: Enjoy a hearty meal at your campsite. Overnight: Stay in Dzongri.

Morning: Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Hike to Dzongri Top for a 360-degree view of the surrounding peaks, including Kanchenjunga, Pandim, and Kabru. Afternoon:Spend the day exploring the alpine meadows and nearby trails. This is also a good day to acclimatize to the high altitude. Evening: Relax at your campsite and enjoy the serene surroundings.Dinner: Have a warm meal at your campsite. Overnight: Stay in Dzongri.

Morning: Trek from Dzongri to Thangsing (approximately 5-6 hours). The trail descends through lush forests and offers stunning views of the Kanchenjunga range. Afternoon: Arrive in Thangsing and set up camp. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area and enjoying the tranquil ambiance.Evening: Relax by the river and take in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Dinner: Enjoy a warm meal at your campsite. Overnight: Stay in Thangsing.

Morning: Trek from Thangsing to Lamuney (approximately 3-4 hours). The trail passes through scenic landscapes and offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga range. Afternoon: Arrive in Lamuney and set up camp. Spend the rest of the day exploring the area and preparing for the next day’s trek to Goecha La. Evening: Relax at your campsite and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Dinner: Have a hearty meal at your campsite.Overnight: Stay in Lamuney.

Early Morning: Start your trek to Goecha La (approximately 4-5 hours). The trail is challenging but offers unparalleled views of the Kanchenjunga range and the surrounding peaks. Morning: Reach Goecha La and witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas. Spend some time soaking in the views and taking photographs. Afternoon: Trek back to Thangsing (approximately 4-5 hours). Rest and relax at your campsite. Evening: Celebrate your successful trek with a warm meal and share stories with fellow trekkers. Overnight: Stay in Thangsing.

Morning: Trek from Thangsing to Yuksom (approximately 6-7 hours). The trail retraces your steps through lush forests and picturesque villages. Afternoon:
Arrive in Yuksom and check into your hotel or homestay. Rest and relax after the long trek. Evening:Explore Yuksom village and visit any spots you may have missed on the first day. Dinner: Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local eatery. Overnight: Stay in Yuksom.

Morning: After breakfast, check out from your hotel and depart from Yuksom. If time permits, visit nearby attractions like Kartok Monastery or Pemayangtse Monastery on your way back. Afternoon:Head to your next destination or return home with unforgettable memories of your adventure in Kanchenjunga National Park and Yuksom.

What is the best time to do this trek?Do Indians need permit for Sikkim ?

The best time to trek to Goecha La and through Kanchenjunga National Park is during the pre-monsoon season (April-May) and post-monsoon season (September-October).

What are the docunments required for Indians & Foreigners ??

  • One Photo Identity and address Proof of each traveler in original and photocopy. [PAN Card and AADHAAR Card are not accepted as ID Proof in SIKKIM]. It can be valid Photo ID with address, issued by GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, PASSPORT, DRIVING LICENSE, VOTER ID, ID PROOF AUTHORISED BY SCHOOL AUTHORITY FOR MINOR
  • Foreign National or NRI need to carry Valid Passport and Visa
  • Children will have to accompany by their parents and should have a valid Photo ID issued by the school authority or GOVT official. It is also suggested to carry a photo copy along with the original Birth Certificate of the children traveling to avoid any inconvenience.
  • 05 Numbers Passport size photo in case any Permit is required to visit any restricted place (NATHULA, TSHANGU, BABA MANDIR, NORTH SIKKIM, SILK ROUTE ETC ...)

How difficult is the trek?

This trek is considered moderately challenging to challenging, requiring a good level of fitness. Prior trekking experience is recommended but not mandatory.

Do I need permits for this trek?

Yes, permits are required for trekking in Kanchenjunga National Park. These can be arranged through a registered trekking agency

What kind of gear do I need?

You will need warm layers, waterproof outerwear, sturdy trekking boots, a sleeping bag, a backpack, trekking poles, a headlamp, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a first-aid kit. A detailed packing list will be provided.

Is it possible to see snow leopards?

While snow leopards inhabit the park, sightings are extremely rare. Other wildlife like red pandas, musk deer, and various bird species are more commonly seen.

What about altitude sickness?

Altitude sickness is a possibility on this trek. Acclimatization days are built into the itinerary. It's crucial to stay hydrated, ascend gradually, and inform your guide if you experience symptoms.

What kind of accommodation is provided?

Accommodation during the trek is typically in tents at designated campsites. In Yuksom, you can choose from hotels or homestays.

What about food and water?

Nutritious meals will be provided during the trek. It's essential to carry a reusable water bottle and a water purification method (like tablets or a filter).

How do I reach Yuksom?

The nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). From there, you can hire a taxi or shared vehicle to reach Yuksom.
